What I Wish I Knew

I feel honored that Katie Couric’s video montage of advice for the newly diagnosed concludes with my message about hope.

Months ago, I answered the request in her Wake-up Call newsletter for selfies with insights or tips we wish we’d known from the start of our survivorship. I have long admired Katie’s journalism, from her interviews about my books in the 1990s to her real-time coverage of the 9/11 attack on WTC to her ongoing podcasts. I have also admired how she’s used her platform for patient advocacy with great effect.

Katie Couric Media with support of Exact Sciences

In the short WHAT I WISH I KNEW video, fast-paced clips of Katie and other patients, caregivers, and family members offer heartfelt messages. By avoiding toxic positivity, the realistic-yet-hopeful video helps prepare and inspire people new to cancer survivorship or any other illness.

Bravo! And thank you, Katie and Exact Sciences productions.
